The DiVinci Code claims that a 4th century Catholica council (the Nicene Council) altered the New Testament. There is no mention in the book of the Jews (who have nothing to do with the New Testament) having changed it.

But as to the real question, was the content of the New Testament changed by the Nicene Council? The historical evidence says it was not. There are still in existence today manuscripts of the New Testament books that predate the council by as much as 200 years that are identical to the New Testament used today. Many of the manuscripts come from groups that were not under the control of the Catholic church, such as the Coptic Christian - a group of converted Jews in Egypt, the Armenian Christian in central Asia, and elsewhere.

If every manuscript of the New Testament were to disappear, it would be possible to recreate all by 11 of the nearly 3000 verse of the New Testament from quotes, inscriptions, commentaries, prayer books, and other sources that predate the Nicene Council

If they managed to alter the New Testament writings, it is the greatest fraud ever performed. They would have had to alter thousands of documents - many of which were unknown or inaccessible to the them. Rewrite the prayers and rituals that the church had been saying for 300 years. Rebuild monuments, tombstones, markers, and other engravings that covered much of Europe, Africa and Asia. Alter painting and other early artwork that included scripture within it - many of which were unknown to the Council.

And replace all these with thousand of "fake" documents with the new readings that could pass the test of scholars. Made on writing materials no longer being made at the time (papyrus), using languages that were no longer used, with dozens of different inks and dyes appropriate to the time and place where the "fake" manuscript would be hidden to be "hopefully" discovered hundreds of years later.

In the records that survive from the council, it says that there was an attempt to made to alter one verse in the book of 1 John. The president of the Council absolutely refused to allow the Council to even hear a motion to alter any of the writings. There was a several day struggle to try to get a chance made, but the President absolutely refused to budge, saying that altering even one word of the scriptures would be a sin. In the end the verse was left intact.

When the historical evidence is examined, it becomes clear that the content of the New Testament books were not altered by the Nicene Council.

whatever....... in any case... The Davinci code is incompatible with Muslim beliefs....

however there is only one command in the Koran for Jews and Christians... to check their gospel and Torah to see if they agree with the Koran... good advice...and they do not agree in many many things

The non agreement raises considerable dilemma for Mohamed to offer this test, as he himself could not read or write and could not check himself... he clearly believed it... and it clearly is not true He could not Read the gospels He could not read the Torah. Ironically he could not check his own test.

Because his one test fails. Modern Moslem's often realize the problem and attempt to resolve it saying that the Old and New Testaments are corrupt... this makes it impossible to use them for any tests in any logically decisive way with the New or Old testament documents and makes Mohammed;s command meaningless... so I reject that explanation... if the New and Old testament are corrupt there is no logical means of using the books as any possible test for anything because you would not know which parts were reliable and it would be a pick and choose by whim and preference. Logically therefore Mohammed fails his own test.

I have seem Moslems try and so... see the greek word 'paraclete' if you just change a couple letters you get ahmed... see... Jesus fortold Mohammed... but this is illogical... one can change a few letters happhazardly and it only demonstrates a desparation of finding something thats not there... I'm just beign honest. Theer is no logical base for it and surrounding the foretelling of the 'another paraclete" Jesus calls God father a many times... calling God father is a sin in the Koran ... so go figure

In the end both the textual integrity of the New and Old testaments are stellar... I would definitely trust them..
the Davinci code however is very very poor scholarship
and I recommend Phill Fernandez sermons on it on www.sermonaudio.com
