do you really die?
and if youare a Christian, how can you square the beliefs of orthodox Chritianity with these 2 verses:
Psalm 115:17
The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.
Ecclesiastes 9:10
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Some have missed your point.
I believe you mean that you are dead until Christ raises you.
If so, I agree. Great website, BTW

From your belief statements:
7. We believe that when a person dies, his life is gone and he no longer exists anywhere in any form. He stays dead ("asleep") until he is "awakened" from the dead by the Lord Jesus for judgment unto either everlasting life or everlasting death. The only hope for the dead is the resurrection of mankind from the dead by the Lord Jesus Christ, the firstborn from among the dead.
Answer: When you die, you are dead.

Did you know that the Bible speaks of two deaths? Those who refuse the gift of Life God offers are subject to that second death That is whom Psalms 115:17 is referring...
This life is all the time you have to prepare to meet God Nothing can be done beyond it. hat is what Ecc 9:10 is saying... Nice try but these verses are exactly what Christian are trying to tell you.... Jim

That's just the point Jesus was making. He said that those who really believed in HIm would never die, that even though they would "die" visibly, they would go on living in spirit.
So we can go on praising God.
The Jews called God the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jesus said: "God is not the God of the dead, but of the living". His point was to prove that those men were still living even though they had been "dead" for centuries.

That was prior to the Harrowing of Hell that occurred when Jesus died and then rose from the dead.

NO CONTRADICTION HERE, IN PSALM 115 THOSE THAT GO DOWN INTO SILENCE ARE THE ONES THAT GO TO HELL. THEIR VOICES ARE SILENCED AND GOD DOES NOT HERE THEIR PRAYERS, THE SAME FOR THE ECCLESIASTES VERSE, YOU'LL FIND NO WORK OR WISDOM IN HELL. I LOVE THESE, GOT ANYMORE?
GOD BLESS
