Right now the race is head-to-head between the Panasonic Viera PX60U-Series and Hitachi's Ultravision HDS69-Series.

Hitachi's 42HDS69 is better in the 42" size between both brands, having a resolution of 1080i compare to Panasonic 's TH-42PX60U 720p.

Also, the Hitachi series have a much better look in Stainless Steel and have 3-HDMI, 3-Component inputs and a CableCARD slot compare to 2-HDMI, 2-Component and no CableCARD slot on the Panasonic.

Both 42" sets are price under $1,599.99.
