Talk to her and mention these temp ones as a compromise (better than dyeing it a permanent colour she may hate). Many people would like to have green or pink hair so she's actually quite lucky you want purple as the deep purples are not quite as in your face as some colours could be :)

This link shows some of the temp purple dyes out there and gives good pics showing results - if your hair is darker the purple will only give a highlighted effect (without bleaching) which may be a good compromise with you and your mum - dont go ahead and do it without telling her as it can cause all sorts of problems and also depending on your age it could get the seller of the dye into trouble too :)

Just do it! My hair is blue, green, blonde, black, and I love it. Use Special Effects hair dye, it's the best and it's permanent.
Either way you would have to bleach your hair to get the purple. With temporary or permanent.

Try using Color Pulse in Chilled Plum (about $4 and it washes out in 8-10 washes)...but don't dye your whole head. Try dying just the underside so you can still look respectable with the family, but you can have fun with it when you go out with friends!

Temporary is also nice, but it might damage your hair when you keep using it. I can suggest one thing: Cellophane.^-^ Purple cellophane, because you like purple(but blue is also nice) it makes your hair shiny and the color really only shows under bright light, like daytime, outside. so your hair is still the same color, but when light hits it, the highlight will be purplish instead of white.

Tell her. Since it is temporary she should not have a problem. What kind of fashion was she into at your age that her parents didn't like?
Years ago I helped my son dye his blonde hair turquoise. It was a fun fashion statement.

You sound like you care about your mom. Talk with her about it. What about this idea: Get a wig. Die it different colors as your moods change. Then, if something goes wrong, you're not stuck with it. Wigs can be so fun -- and a lot less trouble.

Depends on what color your hair is now. You may end up regretting it for it is very hard to get it out if you change your mind.
Have a sit down with you mother and tell her what you want to do.Easy as that.

Depends on your age.
If you're old enough to vote and live on your own, do what you want (I think you'll regret it, but some things you have to learn the hard way).
If you're still a minor, you can explain to your mom why you want to do this (I'm curious myself), and she either will or won't let you. If she won't, you'll just have to find something else to make you fit into the rest of the crowd.

Mine's permanent blue..
Maybe you could ask for permanent first, then lower your demands to temporary, so she thinks she's actually getting a bargain.
