I had my wisdom teeth removed about two weeks ago and they healed pretty well. I was swollen for the first 4- 5 days. Now two weeks later, my left side is swelling up again. Could it be an infection?

If you are going to have infection it normaly hapens in the first week. If the stitches are still there and the skin has not healed togethor yet, there is a chance of infection. You can try warm salt water rinses and you can by some glyoxcide from the drug store to put in that area. If this doesnt help and you continue having problems you should contact the oral surgeon who extracted them. You may need to be on antibiotics for about seven days.

It could be -- make sure you have no food stuck in the holes left over from your wisdom teeth. Gargle with salt water. If you experience a lot of pain, it means you have something called dry socket -- you'll need to go back to the dentist or oral surgeon and have the holes 'packed.'

Yes it sounds like an infection to me. When I had mine removed everything went ok until about 2 months after. I woke up one day and my whole left side of my mouth was swollen . I would go and see your dentist so you could be put on some kind of antibiotic.

I had my understanding tooth out in June. It became right into a worst case state of affairs. 4 horizontally impacted understanding tooth bumped off at as quickly as, 2 ensuing in dry socket. i became into on prescription soreness killers all day, every day for 3 weeks. in any case, an infection is often possible, yet extremely no longer likely. proceed taking the antibiotics. If there is an infection, they might desire to kill it off extraordinarily without postpone. Secondly, if the only element you may desire to assert with reference to the socket is that that's slightly itchy, evaluate your self fortunate. Bit itchy > recommendations numbing soreness. finally, the little plastic syringe is for cleansing bits of nutrition out from the socket. that's somewhat functional, and that i might have asked for one from the initiating. even with the undeniable fact that, in case you rinse with salt water regularily, you will possibly desire to no longer have any problems.

You may have what is known as dry socket, which is swelling of the nerve, and, as you well know, incredibly painful. Go see your oral surgeon.............
