I was just reading Henry Kissinger's comments and I respect his opinions. I would hate that almost 3000 soldiers have died in vain and I don't want the country to go to hell as soon as we pull out! This is not about Bush either. He may be out of office and we still be fighting over there. Now Charles Rengel is talkin about reinstating the draft. What's the answer ?!

Unfortunately I don't think we'll be able to keep Iraq together now that sectarian violence has taken over the country. Iran is clearly helping the Shiite militias with resources as they are supporting Hezbolla in Lebanon. Like it or not we should be talking with the Iranians about this and other things. However even Sadr has lost control of the militias. There's just an ineveitable bottom that has to be hit before this thing wears out. I remember a similar situation in South Viet Nam. The South was corrupt and it's army unable to stand up to the North. As soon as we left it all fell apart. Iraq was a creation of the west. Rival ethnic groups held down by a merciless dictator. Bush and his advisors completely underestimated the divisons in that country. Sadam was like a cork in the bottle. Maybe an international force of non-western nations might be able to restore order but it would take hundreds of thousands more than we have there now. The current prime minister has to go and the interior ministry needs to be purged of the criminals and assassins using their positions to carry out personal vendettas. Twice in my lifetime the bright boys in Washington have tried this and twice they've failed. My Dick Cheney and his like will finally stop trying to refight the Viet Nam war.

I wish I knew. I was a critic of the decision to go to war from the very beginning. But it is futile to debate that any longer.
Many others before Kissinger also claimed that there is no military solution in Iraq. Obviously, the future of Iraq is now in the hands of its own people, whether we have troops there or not. I think we must pull out and live with whatever happens.
I feel terrible about the 3000 soldiers that have died. But they need not die in vain. Maybe their deaths under the circumstances of our pre-emptive war will help make sure that America NEVER AGAIN starts a war under false information. Preventing future unnecessary wars might be the greatest contribution those dead soldiers could ever make. Let's hope America never again STARTS a war, only finishes those started by others in agression.

lovable little uninformed rant, there...grasshopper. we've sufficient terrorists right here at living house, what with the a approaches-precise-wing non secular kooks that administration the GOP and the corporate-funded TeaP who prefer to have a THEOCRATIC COUP from interior our political equipment. i'm a average, with some crispy conservative edges (table manners, social graces) and a liberal's love of social justice. I say the Iraq conflict became into an unlawful one that became the USA right into a terrorist united states (a criminal act for which the Bush/Cheney administration might desire to be held in charge with the aid of fact the conflict criminals they're). we are actually not the "super daddy" of the worldwide, exceedingly no longer precise now with the GOP-broken economic equipment and the a approaches-precise-wingers doing their very superb tochronic this united states into everlasting 0.33-worldwide status. I say we would desire to constantly get our very own residence to ensure that a transformation, and pulling the relax contingency troops (around 40 5,000 of them) out of Iraq is a clever and mandatory pass as we seem in the direction of a greater rich, safer, and greater desirable destiny.

We either have to step up the war to get the Iraqis in shape or we have to get out. The Iraqis hate us and want us out.

Bush is never going to leave Iraq; it would mean admitting he was wrong and he never does that so we have to send more fresh troops to help the ones that are worn out over there and let them come home.

The US citizens over there right now are sitting ducks - there are not enough soldiers to do the job and some of them are on their 3rd or 4th tour.

Someone gives the order evacuate Iraq and they all leave. That is all it takes.

Iraq is never going to be okay and when they leave it will get back to its same old same ole

Bush should have read the history books but he was too busy dodging the war in Vietnam to study

Though no one in the government will admit it, our only way out of Iraq is to completely pull out as we did in Vietnam, but if we do have to go back there, I am sure it will not be the same as in 2003. By the way, why do you have so much respect for Kissinger? Didn't you know that he has been consulting with Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld all along concerning Iraq? It just goes to tell you that Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld was not about to listen to anyone but themselves.

To answer your question, we would have to wipe out a LOT of radical islamists who are have already declared war on the US and have no intent in stopping. This is not about Bush either. It is about them and us, and I mean all of us. There is no guarantee once out that we won't have to return to somewhere in the area or go back and bomb areas that threaten to annihilate us. I don't know what the answer is to all of this, just see no end to it for a long time.

OK--it is widely known that the mideast has NEVER enjoyed peace from the dawn of mankind.
And they never WILL, despite our dead soldiers...
Pull out all Americans, tell them "you have 48 hours to evacuate this area" and then nuke the piss out of them.

They have it coming more than any group ever!
