During last few weeks, my 11-month-old female golden retriever doesn't want to eat her dog food. I have tried to mixed the dog food with sugar and milk powder, and even honey star, but still cannot stimulate her appetite. She has lost weight, now so skinny. I'm quite worry about her. Anyone knows what is the reason she rejects the dog food? and any tips on how to make her eat more and gain weight? Thank you very much.

try mixing some beef broth in her food, it might help. Keep in mind that there might be an underlying health issue, might be wise to see a vet. Is she having normal bowel movements? If not, could be an obstruction. Dogs have a bad habit of eating things they shouldn't.

Under a year would be really young for cancer, but it's possible I guess. But let's first think about less serious issues.

Do you change her food often? This can upset a dog's stomach. It's best to stick with a particular brand.

If you've fed her scraps from the table, she may just be waiting for the "good stuff." Well, she thinks of it as good stuff, but people-food doesn't have what a dog needs, really. Stick to doggy food for her.

Use treats and canned food to entice her to eat. Milk powder probably isn't a good idea. Get an appointment with her vet, especially if she isn't drinking enough!

I hope your golden gets better. Good luck.

It sounds like she has a serious health problem, possibly some type of worm. I'd suggest taking her to a vet to get her checked out. That's really not normal, especially if you've tried spicing it up and she still won't eat and is at the point of losing weight. Please, take her to a vet as soon as possible. She sounds seriously ill.

Change her brand of dog food and don't EVER add sugar to their diet. You're trying to AVOID carbs, not increase them.

Both of my dogs eat only Artemis Fresh Mix Small Breed and are thriving.

First dogs do not have a great sense of taste they have a great sense of smell. If the food does not SMELL appetizing then she won't want to eat it. Try a beef broth or something that SMELLS good not what you think will taste good.

Has she been to the vet? She may have worms or an allergy to one of the ingredients in the dog food. Please take her their soon. Loss of appetite is a symptom and you need to find the cause.
