At what age did your children stop taking naps?
I have a 4 year old that doesn't take naps, but can't remember when she stopped. I also have a 22 month old that usually takes about an hour nap everyday, but for the past few days has not been taking a nap, and gets VERY cranky by about 7 pm, which is too late for her to take a nap, or she would be up all night. We have not been doing anything different, such as going out shopping and such, and I am a stay at home mom, so she can always go lay in bed for her nap, which is what she usually does.
Thanks!!

My son, who is now 26 months, has not taken a nap for the past 4 months. His bedtime is at 7pm so he still gets his 12 hours of sleep he needs. It sounds like she is just changing her schedule to fit her and not the parents anymore. Perhaps you could just put her down when she gets tired at night and see how that fits with your schedule. Each child is different and gives up naps on their own terms. It is up to the parents to be flexible as much as possible and go with the flow. Some days she may go back to wanting a nap or she may be getting enough at night.

My 30 mo old usually takes a nap EVERYDAY. For the same reasons, if it's 7pm, and hasn't had one, its too late and she starts to get bratty. So I make her take one between 1 & 2. If she refuses, to lay down in her toddler bed, I put her in her crib so she can't get out. She eventually falls asleep and is well rested, yet still goes to bed at a reasonable time. *Some days she doesn't get a nap, (like today) and she just falls asleep early on her own and still sleeps all night.

I don't know the exact age but both my kids stopped napping before the age of 2. I would suggest starting the bedtime routine with your almost 2 year old at about 7.

My son is four, and he sometimes takes naps and sometimes does not. Sometimes he is tired, but can't settle down. I try patting his back. If he is tired, this puts him right out. If not, but I know he needs to at least rest his body, I instruct him to read books in bed and I will set the timer and dim the lights. Just some low key time during the afternoon can keep the early evening meltdowns to a minimum. Good luck!

at 3 my son quite taking naps. Maybe her bed time is 7pm i mean that is only an hour earlier then my 15 year old bed time. maybe she wants to go to bed at that particular time. My 15 month old pretty much set his own time to go to bed at eat and naps. GOOD LUCK.
