This would include military dead from all causes (disease, accidents, et al), not just the personnel killed in action. As I understand it, only 15 to 20 per cent of the US war effort was devoted to the the Pacific theater, until Germany surrendered. I'm just curious as to how many American dead this translated into.

gregory_dittman and tonal_c both got the answer, but gregory dittman got the precise number, whereas tonal_c left out the people not buried in the Philippines, although that number is on the embassy web page he cited. Thanks to you both.
