Wait wait. The reason has nothing to do with them trying to sqwelch the truth. We don't have a problem with them believing what they want. Jesus never forced anyone to believe anything. There is a problem when they try to use the Seventh Day adventist name in their new church if it differs with the church's belief. The church does not want to be associated with that church so it is protecting it's name and what it stands for. They do not proceed with immediate legal action either. it occurs only after personal pleas are refused by the former members. it is never the wish of the adventist church to alienate members or say that they are somehow barred from salvation. but it is simply a matter of them not wanting to be associated with the offshoot. AKA Branch davidians. if they were called Branch Davidian Seventh Day adventists they would have had a much more negative impact then they already did due to their association.I am in no way a spokesman for the seventhday adventist church and the official views may not be fully represnted. i am simply saying what I have read from their statements.

The Seventh Day Adventist and the Jehovah Witnesses were once one Church. There was a disagreement between the elders on Sabbath Day/Saturday Day, this created a split and so the Seventh Day Adventist was born. However, the Seventh Day Adventist still maintains allot of the strict legal punishment on current and past members.....but this has taken the cake.

I have never heard of this in reference to the SDA church. I did, however, hear about a splinter group that broke away from the SDA church, started their own thing, and eventually abandoned all they had been taught to a person that stole guns and converted them to automatic weapons. His name was David Karesh. The established SDA church has never taken legal action, unless it caused physical harm to others that were members, such as family members that were being stalked and harrased by formenr members.
