DO NOT get a tat from someone not licensed in a shop! That is a horrible horrible idea, I can not even begin to explain how bad that can end up. Obviously if you are too stubborn and ignorant to wait until it is legal and SAFE, you will get the tattoo anyway. But putting any sort of makeup or tight coverup (such as a tight sock) over a fresh tattoo can irritate it and cause it to scare, get infected, and look awful. There are reason for age limits on tattoos, and damn good ones that's for sure.

If you are already planning on how to hide it then it's not a good idea. Just wait until after the holidays so that you don't have to have added stress or anything. Grant it, you are 18 and can do what you want but make sure you take your moms feelings into account. I did a lot of things when I was a teenager that hurt my mom and I wish I hadn't. Just don't do anything you feel you would regret. Good luck!

I was very rebellious as a kid and did lot's of things I thought I really wanted to do back then. Part of it was rebellion and looking back now much of it was just plan stupid.

Someone wrote tattoos can be removed but they are expensive. That is partially correct. They are expensive to remove but they are never removed completely. You could end up with terrible scars & discoloration if you decide sometime in the future you want to remove them.

I'm not a mom but have learned over time to respect and honor my parents. It's something I had to learn the hard way. My opinion is if your mom is supporting you and paying for your school than it is your position to be deeply respectful to her requests and opinions.

I think doing it when you get back to school is just a slap in her face, totally disrespectful & deceptive. I'd guess she'd be really hurt if that's what you decided to do. It would be like your in her house now and lying about it everyday until you leave.

If you want another tattoo then it's my opinion you wait until you are self employed, completely on your own and that you give yourself a couple days (a cooling off period) before making any decisions that would effect you the rest of your life.

Well, that's just me thinking outloud. Not sure it helps.

I have a wrist tattoo.....You CAN'T cover it up with any success....You can try to wear long sleeves but when you reach across the table she will probably see it.....Your 18...She may be upset but she will get over it if it is something you really want....A wrist tattoo is not easily concealed later in life when your expected to be "professional" and may be limiting to your ability to get a good job.....

Dude, you're 18 now, it's not like you no longer need your moms permissionn, sure she might not approve but if you ask her before you do anything you want to do, I'm sure theres alot of things you won't do. Do what you want, get it done.
And if you want to hide it for a while, it's easy...before you even get it done, start wearing a wrist band and then get it done and continue to wear it, she will think that it is normal that you are wearing it and that nothing is new. Good luck, do what you want, life is short, live it the way you want to...

Its your body and a heavy foundation and powder shoulder cover it, but I am warning you now, Getting something on your wrist is going to be hard to hide at a social occasion and its going to hurt alot. I have 13 of them so I should know/

Just wait if you really don't want your mom seeing it. However, it's your body, and since you're 18 already... HOWEVER, I'm fine with tattoos, but just remember to take necessary health precautions. By the way, that "totally addicted" comment was not very good... I mean, being addicted to anything is pretty bad. I'd advise you to limit yourself even if you believe it's personal expression.

I bought this concealer from ULTA called CoverBlend by Exuviance. It covers everything from scars to tattoos. It's waterproof, too. Either that or buy some sylish cuff bracelets that dont move on your arm.

If you are still living in her house, and/or they are paying for your education I would wait before getting another tat. If she said she doesn't want to see anymore on your body, then don't do it. She might get ticked off enough to say you are now on your own!!

Can't you wait a few days...
If not big bangles on your wrists or a bandage on your wrists (say you hurt yourself.)
Or put I LOVE MOM in a a heart like Johnny depp has....

But really wait, so you don't have to lie to your mom. It is not cool.
