there's cetain ways in which you are able to get out of being drafted...

-if you have a family member who's already died for the military
-if you don't physically meet the requirements

In the last draft, there was a college exemption.

I don't think that there will be college exemption in any future drafts. I also think that females will be drafted as well.

Last, I don't see a draft being reinstated anytime soon. Charlie Rangle is simply introducing that legislation as an antiwar gambit. Charlie is easily one of the most sly, shrewd politicians in Congress, and he knows that talk of a draft would end the war quickly.

Yes, if a draft were to be re-implemented.

Any man under the age limit could be drafted, regardless of occupation.

Back in the 60s and previously, baseball players were drafted. Elvis Presley was drafted. Every man was subject to it.

Bush had said before that all people would go in if there was a draft, unlike the Vietnam war, but seeing is believing.

there were college deferments during the draft. they postponed your draftability until you graduated or flunked out. at that time (60's and 70's) a male student was required to enroll in ROTC which commisioned you as a 2nd Leiutenant when you graduated. ROTC scholarships were common but if you quit school or flunked out you had an immediate obligation for active duty as an enlisted man.

Nobody can get drafted now. IF a draft is re instituted, that & other issues will have to be addressed. Nobody knows what is in a bill that hasn't been submitted yet.
