Call a vet and get their opinion. Yahoo is great, but please don't gamble your dog's health on the opinion of a bunch of strangers.

I came from a family that bred showdogs and racing greyhounds. I have never seen a mother "grieve" for her dead puppies. I have seen a mother with unborn fetus' almost die from the infection. If your dog is not eating, then you have a serious problem. Your dog is ill, and if you don't get some nutrients into her immediately, she will become too sick to care for the puppies she has left. She needs to go to the vet immediately. She should actually have gone the day of or day after she had her puppies. You are gambling with your pets life if you do not take her.

It always worries me when there is an no eating situation. Try something different than dog food. A can of tuna, vienna sausages, one of the baby foods with meat, scrambled eggs, lunch meat. You may not feed her people food, but right now it is important to get something in her tummy. Don't give milk, it will give her diarrhea. Later some mixed instant dry milk ever so often will be okay. She may be worried with the other pups passing away. Give her lots of talking and soothing and encouraging words. Try not to feel upset around her- she feels it. I don't think she could have anymore in her. If trying a day of other foods do not work-take her to the vet. She may have not passed everything she was suppose to. I am really sorry about the pups. GOD BLESS YOU! sus04mc@yahoo.com

your dog should be eating more than usual. there is a reason that most of the puppies died. does your dog have any kind of dark discharge, or a funny smell? if she doesnt eat very soon, the other puppies will die also, because she will not be able to keep producing milk. i suggest you get her to a vet asap. she could have a serious infection. if this turns out to be the case, you could lose her as well as the puppies. good luck

Considering 5 out of 7 of her puppies died, she's probably grieving. Just leave the food out for her. Maybe cook her some chicken & rice *plain, not seasoned*.

That doesn't sound good at all. Normally a mother will have a good appetite shortly after having pups. Sure hope she is drinking. They need that right after labor. I would call a doc and have her checked. She may be ill, which may be the cause of her pups not being alive.

Have you checked her carefully?Does she have any symptom, such as:eliminating too flabby dung with bad odor, dung with blood, being exhausted...If so,i think she has matter with her bowel.Nature gives dog a strong digestive system. So when the dog has trouble with digestive system, that's really a serious trouble.Never say die, you'd better take her to the veterinarian.I donot want she has the ending like my old dog.Hurry!

Its common for an animal to act this way when they lose babies.... I lived on a farm growing up and saw this many times....Just giver her time, don't bother her too much but help her take car of the young ones as much as she allows...don't let any vets get the better of you, its a very natural part of life...
