Earlier today my uncle smacked my brother with a book and I think he got hit a couple times to so I told my mom about it and she said, "Oh, he probably deserved it."
He was reading a book and didn't cause any trouble, she knows he has an abusive past and is scared of everyone, and my uncle just made him more scared by hitting him with the book. He has a nice, black eye now, and I took a picture of it to document, and my mom just doesn't care. Now what should I do - try and tell my dad or the police? My brother is 16, I am 17... Help!

If he hit him so hard that he has a black eye...ABSOLUTELY call the police!! You have every right to protect your brother...whether he "deserved it" or not. I believe in corporal punishment (good old-fashioned spanking)...but they should never be hit so hard that there is bruising!! As for your mom, if she refuses to do anything about it, then she should be reported for neglect!

First of all tell your dad,If he doesn't listen tell an aunt, uncle someone and if all else fails you call the police...To many abuse cases happen because someone says oh well they probably deserved it...No body deserved to get hit and abused for anything....And a lot of times when you dont tell the next time might be too late!!!!

I guess it depends on what you did and the type of abuse. If my brother were to abuse as in beat my children I would probably make him stay away and call the cops. If he spanked or punished my child I would be okay with that if it was appropriate. Same goes if it were my own uncle... which wouldn't try and hurt me.

Baby girl that is assult. If you are still in school, tell the conselor and get the Child Protective Services involved, they will take care of anything that may have to do with the police should it be nessacary. Try to stay away from Uncle (if you can) in the meantime. Take Care and God Bless, you and Bro.

Yes tell your Dad! Your Dad can get your Uncle ( Your Mom's Brother?) away from you and your brother. If your Dad wants to take this to court you have the photo for proof.

ok if you really think this is serious than i would suggest telling yor dad hopefully he will care more also depending on your relationship with our uncle and the seriousness you could askyour ncle why he hit yor brother an tellhim to stop if you think that could causemore problems skip it and tell more people . does yor brother care, if he doesnt then dont freak but if yo think hes afraid to do anything you have to be his voice. good luck!!
