I have not heard of any OTC meds for the liver. My advice to you is to monitor your situation carfefully. Liver disease is nothing to play around with. Often times, when the liver finally starts to manifest symptoms of disease, it is on its way to failing. There is a med that is offered by prescription called Ursodiol that is supposed to make things easier for a sick liver. I'm not sure exactly how, but from experience, I know. Many prescription meds are available through mail-order at reduced prices. Some pharmacies will have a lower cost if you don't use your insurance, but they don't always tell you this. I suggest seeing a doctor, get a prescription for whatever he recommends, and search for the best price. What ever the cost, it will be a whole lot cheaper than the cost of a liver transplant and the maintenance meds that will be required following a transplant procedure.

Also, FYI , OTC med are medications that do not require a prescription. Med like Tylenol, etc. You just buy it over-the-counter.

Take care of yourself by taking steps to limit the hard work your liver has to perform. God Bless.

Just to add to all the answers, DO NOT EVER TAKE TYLENOL this can cause further liver damge in a sick liver. Tylenol is great but it is not good if the liver is already weak. In addition any Over The Counter Meds should be cleared with a Dr because most medication are metabolized in the liver and may do no good or too much medicine sits in your system. In any case you need to have a liver panel and possibly a Biopsy to determine what is going on if you have pain.

the most common cause of fatty liver is chronic alcohol use. If your in South America you may have a parasitic infection there are a few types of parasites that love the liver such a malaria, chagas, etc. go see a doctor.

Have yourself checked for Diabetes. This is what happened to my husband, but I do not think it should be painful. You need to go back to the doctor for a full physical, a fatty liver should not be painful.
