Why bother. If you are going to upgrade go for XP. Windows 98 - 2 was one of the better OS out from MS, and runs great if you are short on memory. If you have less than 512Megs Ram, stay with 98. XP will really slow you down unless you have the 128Megs to run with it.

Not sure you can find Windows 2000.
Newegg and Global Computer have XP Pro for about $140.
I try to get you a link or two.
Below the links to both. Newegg you get a VISTA Express Upgrade with your XP, not really sure what an Express upgrade is, but, you get one. Ha!

Go to www.bizrate.com and run a search for MS Windows 2000. You will get a list of sellers listed by price.

As you probably know, MS no longer supports Win98, so it won't be too long before they stop support on Win2000. If your PC will support WinXP and you can afford it, I would go for that. You can check your PC with the Advisor - a small program that will see if your PC will support WinXP. I had a Pentium III and it would not.
----------------------------------
If your current version of Windows is eligible for upgrade to Windows XP, you can use Upgrade Advisor to make sure your hardware and software are compatible with Windows XP.

I would recommend a clean install instead of over-installing. You can do that with a Windows XP Installation disk. Those will run you 100 to 200 dollars depending on the version you buy. You can also check prices on walmart.com God Bless.

It would cost only the operating system cost you can run 2000 with 64MB RAM but I advise you it is pretty slow, but manageable. You might need to reinstall some drivers and some applications might have compatibility issues.
