My friend got a sunburn over his tatoo at summerfest. It was only a month after he got it. It really didn't do anything to it but I imagine if you keep doing that it would cause it to fade. If it was within a week after you get it I also think it would do some damage. I saw someone who went swimming right after they got a tattoo and it totally fu*ked up their tatto it was so fadded that some parts looked practically untouched.

a sunburn is damaging to your skin and your tattoo. but even regular sun exposure is bad for a tattoo. even if sunscreen is worn, it doesn't protect the ink in the skin. the only way to keep a tattoo looking fresh and beautiful is to keep it covered and away from the sun as much as possible. so IF you ever get a tattoo, remember that! stay out of the sun!!

The skin peeling on top of the tattoo will not damage the tattoo, but the sun itself can. The damage is more significant in colored work than in black work. Just like anything you leave out in the sun for long periods of time, tattoo pigments will fade. Apply a high SPF (50 or better) sunblock on tattooed areas and give it a few minutes to soak in before applying your regular tanning oil or lotion. I also like to use a high SPF chapstick...very easy to apply to the tattoo.

I don't have a tattoo either but I've dated some guys that do. Apparently tattoos can fade from the sun. I guess the sunscreen rule applies here too.

your sunburn could peel and if it does it may take some of the inkout or posabily all the ink out and ruin the tattoo. i got one and was told no sun or tanning for 6 weeks.

It might cause some discoloration, especially if it has blacks or blues in it. Reds and yellows seem to hold up better in the sun. The other thing is that it will speed up the aging process of your skin, meaning the skin that your tattoo is on will begin to sag and stretch quicker. The ulitimate result is that your tattoo might stretch of like I said, sag.

Your tattoo will fade. It won't look a vibrant or as sharp as if you'd taken care not to get burnt.
