Being condemned to hell whenever you question anything.
Losing money to donating to things you don't believe in.
You must live your life the way someone else sees fit.
Your business can never be your business.
You depend on Jesus to make your life better instead of bettering it for yourself.
You are not responsible for your actions (good or bad) if you are saved. What kind of life is that?

You would now have an enemy!!! You see if you are not saved (not a Christian) then your enemy has already defeated you so basically you are standing on his side. Once you become a TRUE Christian, you are no longer on his side, you are now his enemy and he will wage war with you. He will tempt you to every temptation and if you give in, he will kick you when you are down and at your weakess. Your enemy has no rules, he will do everything in his power to take you out.

The good news, you will have someone much greater on your side, God will fight your battles with you and for you. You will suffer but not lose, you will feel like you have no friends but you will actually have the best friend there is. You will swim when it appears that your boat is sinking and you will rise to every challenge with grace and might strength.

But make no mistake about it, you will be a target of the enemy and he will seek to destroy you.

Jesus said "Take up your own cross and follow me"

You will be a well equipped soldier in a war for souls, but you will have the breast plate of righteousness on your side.

Its worth the battle because in the end, you win the war!

I just noticed that the others seem to imply there are no negatives. They are either liers or just haven't been around it long enough to see the trials that come with the joy and peace. You will suffer, but even a mother suffers while giving birth, and moments later she is wallowing in joy with the gift of life, that is the best illustraction for explaining what life for the real Christian is.

I personally don't see any negative effects. If on the other hand, you practice any religion in a fanatical way, I see plenty of negative effects. I believe that people should believe or not believe as they see fit without inflicting their beliefs on others.

Jesus is great, just stay with the red letters and your own common sense of its meanings. Believe in Jesus' teachings not his divinity. His divinity is based in pride, something to avoid. Grouping up with other christians is dangerous because they somehow end up siding with corporate greed, and end up doing the bidding of the most evil people on the planet.

Always worrying about pleasing some imaginary sky god who is always watching critically, spending a lot of hours agonizing on whether or not my loved ones are going to hell, trying to manipulate my loved ones and others into changing their behavior and beliefs, striving to be a model of virtue at the expense of my happiness and creative freedom. That's some.

Coming into contact with religious fanatics would definitely not be a good selling point for Jesus.

Never being able to wallow in sin anymore without the conviction of the holy spirit. Oh wait....that was a misery when I was doing that.

Never mind!

Jesus said that his followers would have it hard. Christians get mocked in the US, and killed in other countries.

Every negative thing that happened to Jesus, you would be blessed enough to have it happen to you.
