I was talked into it years ago and it wasn't for me. Not only was it very damaging to my hair, it didn't even work- my curly hair came back in a couple of weeks. I'm sure the process and procucts used have improved since then, but to keep it straight you will have to keep getting it done (very much in the same way straight haired women get perms, it's like a reverse perm and has to be maintained), and it's expensive, not to mention the damage. I found it easier to embrace my curly hair.

It is doable though, ask your stylist more questions and good luck with your decision.

They apply chemicals to the hair similar to what they do with a perm. It can cost a few hundred dollars, depending. But dont' do it. It's damaging, and drying. Your roots will also have to be touched up as your hair grows, otherwise it will look odd. It's overall not good for your hair.

I have a relaxer on my hair. I go to the salon ever 6 to 8 weeks for a touch up. I pay about $40 and this include the touch up conditioning and a simple style. Or you can do it at home for less the $10.

Hey it depends on what type of salon you go to to have it done. Oh but if you dye or highlight your hair. You should NOT do it because your hair will look horribly damaged. And that really won't be attractive.

My wife had the same problem, so she went with a total waxing (a Brazilian, they call it). It works well and she doesn't have hair hanging out from her bikini bottom any more!

If you are past puberty it is not dangerous-if you are not-the chemicals can be harmful.
