1 - a knife is the most useful item on a desert island-to kill and skin animals,to hack your way through the undergrowth,to build a house, etc
2 - a lighter to make fires
3 - a women ( or lots of women )

My eye glasses (so I can spot any ships), a Swiss army knife (so I can open tins that float ashore. They'll probably contain boot polish or something, but what the heck!) and a Wilson football (like the one Tom Hanks had) to keep me company.

pocket knife, zippo lighter (even if it runs out of butane it's able to make a spark to help me start a fire), and i would also need a nice thick jacket for those cold nights.
