Don't hate, but I got a PS#, and now I need a HDTV TV to play it on. What's a good, but affordable, HDTV that I can buy?

FYI: I read that PS3 doesn't respond well to TVs that have 1080i, but not 720p.

Best TV would be a 1080P. The P stands for progessive and the i stands for Interlaced. Both of these refer to the refresh rate of a TV.
If you take out 10 lines from the TV, an interlaced would refresh like this, 1,3,5,7,9,2,4,6,8,10
where a progressive would refresh like this, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 TWICE as fast as an Interlaced. P wins every time.

With that said, you won't find a 1080P this year for $1000. The closest you will find is probally the Sony KDL-40V2500, I have seen it as low as $1900 at a retail store.

Get the lowest cost 1080p LCD TV you can find. In that way you will get the best images from your PS3. Make sure that the TV accepts 1080p as an input. Many 1080p TVs display 1080p, but only accept 1080i inputs (the set converts from interlace to progressive scan). You'll get the best results if the set does not need to do that conversion. I recommend LCD over plasma because even though the new plasmas are better than the older ones, there can still be a problem with burn-in. On the other hand, the newer LCD sets have overcome the problem with slow response time. But you should try it out to be sure; don't hesitate to take your PS3 unit to the store and ask to try it on the set you are considering. If they won't let you, go somewhere else.

FYI Most TVs that have 720p also have 1080i.

Since the maximum output of a PS3 is 1080p, definitely get one of those. I highlighy recommend Samsung LCD TVs. I have one and I have absolutely no complaints. Keep in mind that with 1080p you should probably get 42" or 46" or bigger, otherwise it doesn't make sense to get 1080p because the pixels will be too condensed to see the high quality images anyway.

If you want size go with the Sony 60"or 70" XBR2 or if you would like a panel TV then any Bravia with 1080p( 40xbr2,46xbr2,52xbr2 or klv40v2500).

A Sony brand PS3 will be best patnered with a Sony brand TV, so i suggest you ge the latest Sony Bravia which support 1080p...

you can get aford able at you'r radio shak,certcity,best by target, mervin's,sears,ect get something aford able dont pay a high price... dont for get to sak the sels man if it is compabale to you'r game.good luk.
