Why are religions which build up value sytems ( hopefully) so guilty of this duplicity?

This phrase could mean anything and it could be used in anything.

It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with being morally bankrupt.

My Mom used it frequently when teaching us about responsibility.

Well, I'm Christian, and my father was a Pastor until the day he died, And my first boyfriend believes in God but is more like he doesn't. I have friends that they just don't believe either God or themselves. What I can say is I love Jesus! he is my best friend I don't mean that if you don't believe in him you are despicable or a moron, but you're definetly missing somehthing, all I know is when I feel down, when I feel depressed, I pray and I feel like I'm renewed by him. If you don't understand it, it's like a virgin because if you don't know how it is then you don't miss it. All I know is maybe Atheism is not morally Bankrupt for the atheists but I could never live without JESUS in my life. just one day feels like eternity... and about what some people said above that Jail has more Christians than Atheists, well not everyone that says I'm lawyer is a Lawyer, so I'm sure they are not True Christians, and If you compare the quantity of "so called christians" in the world and the quantity of atheists, well that explains it all!!! make the math!

If the ends must justify the means, then the means must be unjustified. In my experience most religions don't use that argument, they insist that whatever they do is justified by the fact that it's the will of God, the only end is maintaining the power of the Church.

You've just described the primary means of decision making by the Neo-Conservatives currently running our US administration.

(Sadly. And unfortunately often lethally.)

And most of them claim to be Christians.
