That depends. There are very few languages of the same origin, so you probably don't get any help from languages you already know. However, there's no need to learn new alphabet (even though some previous answerer tried to hint otherwise).
If we consider Finnish grammar, it definitely isn't near the easiest ones. You can take a sneak peek into it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnish_grammar . But don't be afraid; like all languages, the only way to learn to speak fluently is to live with native speakers and just speak, speak and speak a lot. I would also guess that the time it takes to learn enough of the language to get yourself understood in an everyday situation (meaning: you speak horrible Finnish, but anyways it's Finnish) doesn't differ too much from any other language you don't know anything beforehand. (As a reminder: if you know English, you have help with _several_ other European languages, including those Latin-based ones. Finnish is not one of those languages.)
Good luck if you decide to study Finnish; some other links to websites about Finnish for foreigners can be found at http://koulut.etela-karjala.fi/kimpinen/seijan/etus/Finnish.html .

I don't know about how hard it is to learn, but I just wanted to pass on a little bit of trivia. Finnish is unrelated to any other language in the area. It's closest linguistic cousin is Hungarian, way on the other side of the continent. >>>>>>>>>> Pasi, Since you are Finnish, I have a non-related question. Do you have a good recipe for Pulla (Nisu)? Cheers, Hoekom

it depends if you got an familiarity with it at all.
if you grew up around finns, it might be easier than if you didn't.
if you familiarized yourself with their alphabet, that might give you a head start.
