Food:
Since it is a puppy, you should consider Science Diet Canine Puppy Food. (one bowl once a day and plenty of fresh clean water)
Potty Training:
Since he is 6 weeks, now is the perfect time to start potty training, he isn't to old to learn and isn't to young, so he will understand. Get him in a routine of 2-3 long walks a day, use the word potty, about every 2 minutes while you are on the walk. When he does go potty, reward him with a treat. When he poos in the house, pop him with a rolled up newspaper and say no-no, then immediately clean the mess and take him on a walk and say potty. He will get the idea in about 12 weeks. Be patient =)!
While You Are At Work:
NEVER PUT HIM IN A CAGE!! buy plenty of toys and encourage him to play with them. Leave a radio or T.V on,(dogs get lonely)
Consider buying a second dog to keep him company.
Other:
- never ignore him, always make time no matter how late it is to play with him.
-when you have extra time do someting speacil with him (take him to the beach or to a doggie park)
Converting:
When you see your dog become a little bigger and is becoming more mature, begin to change him from puppy to dog food. The way to do that is....
-put 3/4 puppy, 1/4 dog food in his bowl, 10-11 days later,do half and half, 8-9 days later, do 3/4 dog, 1/4 puupy, and after a full 15 days has passed, do all dog and no puppy. go slowly and stick to the same brand. (this applys from dog to senior)
DOG TO SENIOR!!
- a dog becomes a senior when you see it have more problems such as less active. (10-11 years of age)
-do 1/4 senior, 3/4 dog, 17-20 days later do half and half, 20-22 days later do 3/4 senior, 1/4 dog, 15 days later, all senior no dog.
hope the info helped

Get a crate, make sure it is not much larger than the pup. Use the crate at night or when you are not home or available to watch the pup. It would be best for the pup if you or your husband could come home at lunch and let it out to potty. Consistency is the key. Take the pup out as soon as it eats, after play and as soon as it wakes up and before it goes to bed. If the pup has an accident which it will at first do not stick its nose in it if you catch it going in the wrong place take it outside immediately and show it the correct place to go. If you do not see the accident occur there is nothing you can do about it. Get a puppy Kong. It is a great chew toy. My pup also likes fleece toys. Stay away from rawhides the pup can choke on them. When home spend as much time as you can with the pup and give it lots of love. After it has had its shots it would be a good idea to enroll it in a Puppy Kindergarten class. Here it will learn basic obedience and socialization with other dogs and people and you will learn how to work with your dog. These classes are invaluable.

We got a Boston Terrier a few months ago, potty training is difficult but my advise is take them out after eating drinking and playing, encourage them to go and when they do overly praise them and give them a rewward like a treat or a rib or steak bone (ours loves those). This process can go very slow as it did with us so you may want to get used to cleaning up poop. When your away, put them in a kennel and if possible come home at least once a day to let them out untill they are trained not to go inside. Same while you sleep. They are burrowers and they love heat, so maybe an electric blanket would be nice for them, but this is not a neccesity. They love fetch, but tug o war is bad for their teeth so don't play that with them, teach them to drop the toy. Hope this helps.

I could try to tell you some pointers here, but just google "dog training" and "boston terrier" and read about dog psychology, training, and learn about the breed. There's tons of great information out there, and it's easy to find. Good luck!

Didn't you take all of this in to consideration before you bought the dog? Feed it a quality puppy food. crate him when your not home and potty training starts when you walk through your door. Please get off of here and go on to a web site called www.perfectpaws.com
