First. Stop the weed. Second, the THC is quite potent and the change in neurotransmitter levels can be drastic in some people and if done too much can cause problems. After one episode, you'll be ok but stop. Second for anxiety - try a high EPA ratio omega -3 supplement. Look it up "high EPA:DHA ratio" and "omega -3". Treat it like a pharacuetical, take it every day. Most companies which sell high EPA supplements will have about 500mg EPA per capsule so you'll need to take 2 per day to get the amount (1gram) shown to be effective in research studies. May have to take it every day for several weeks before notice benefit but likely it will help.

Nicotine is a stimulant. It is more likely that smoking will cause more problems with an anxiety disorder. Deep breathing exercises will help with an anxiety disorder.

I wouldn't suggest it...For your best overall wellbeing I would do meditation and take a yoga class...Also conscious deep breathing would help much better. If you still have extreme or unhealhty anxiety I would seek a doctor for medication...but smoking is NEVER a healthy habit to start-and will cause you MUCH more anxiety in the future...about the consequences of smoking...yeah-try yoga first! :) good luck...and just breathe.

Nicotine is both a stimulant and a depressant. When you are anxious/stressed...it calms you down. When you are feeling down and lethargic it perks you up. Brilliant isnt it?? It may help you but after all thats said and done, the side effect of nicotine and the 400 carcinogens in cigarette smoke is not worth it. I hope you can find another way.

Tobacco or pot?
Tobacco does have a calming effect, but much of the effect smokers get is from having something to do with their hands and the controlled breathing that smoking requires.
Pot has more of a calming effect, but in a small minority of people can lead to anxiety, and other psychotic disorders, being made worse not better

Unfortunately yes. Smoking helps keep insulin production under control (somehow). It also makes you inhale and exhale (which your body can interpret as exercise). If your anxiety is due to overactive insulin taking too much blood sugar from your system (hypoglycemia), then these two effects of smoking help keep your blood sugar level - which can prevent/relieve anxiety.
Check out low blood sugar at www.hufa.org - especially the symptoms link.

NO! I have an anxiety disorder and smoking only makes you jittery and anxious everytime you need a "fix". Plus there are so many health risks. And if you're like me, that's one less anxity that you need to have.

OK~ ANXIETY FEEDS ON NICOTINE and vise-verse!period... plus a benzodazepine is safer, longer lasting, and it's cheaper! my opinion. I know anxiety and it is hard but at least it can be stopped within a day rather than have addiction the rest of your life. Take care.

I think it'd be safer to try stress reduction. Smoking a (harmful) cigarette can't be the only way to reduce stress.
