When my son looses his first tooth, what is the going rate? How much do you leave your kids? Or if you are a young person then how much did you get?

She leaves my daughter $2, a letter and a colouring page (I just do an internet search for "Tooth Fairy Colouring Pages").

Well I would say about a dollar or a bit more depending on the condition of the tooth. I would also leave a note from the fairy with respect to the condition of the tooth. Be sure to include her picture to make it more authentic. I did this and my oldest son was floored. He couldn't believe she looked so tiny and funny (she was a little granny with horn rimmed glasses and fairy wings - kind of like the granny from the movie Hoodwinked) and that she actually came to take his tooth! I was trying to hard not to laugh.
It was so cute. My youngest son tries to stay up and catch her each time a tooth comes out. He has shown his friends and family members her picture to see if they have seen her before.

Make the moment memorable... The money is secondary!

Blessings!

i think a a few shiny gold dollars are the best. it will make them feel like they have something more valuable but not like they got jipped by finding a lousy quarter under their pillow. i think this is the best way to go. if for some reason you can not get a gold dollar my mom used to put a few dollars under my pillow and sprinkle them with craft glitter, it seemed more special like they really came from the tooth fairy another idea is to add a little note to your son or daughter saying something like "im proud you have taken such good care of your teeth" or "your first tooth? this is so exciting!" anything like that will be fine. leaving a new tooth brush is an idea too. also, make sure YOU act extra surprised when you find out what they got. -good luck!

I'm 35 so when I was young I would usually get a half dollar or silver dollar. But for both of my kids..the first tooth is a fiver. I think after that I went to $3(its been a while since my oldest lost one.) Now my youngest just lost his first tooth a couple of weeks ago, and it cost me $10 BUT he lost both bottom teeth the same day, after the first came out and he found out it didn't hurt, he yanked the other one out. LOL. Cracked me up!

I believe a dollar or two is common.
I gave my daughter 5.00 for the first tooth.
I have given her 3.00 for the following teeth.
Her last tooth got 3.00 and a special present from the toothfairy but she had had a lot done at appointments that the day she lost her tooth (blood draw, uncomfortable procedures, and found out she was having surgery).
I guess it goes on your family and what you decide.

Start with $1 per tooth, and then every now and then do $2 or $5...it really makes it a lot more exciting, and makes it clear that there's no way my parents would be doing this. (there's a bunch of old psychology experiments that show that animals are much more engaged when the payoff is seemingly random...so there's actually science behind this one)

This is what we have done. $5 for the first tooth ever lost. After that, we've given $2 or $3 depending on the situation (took awhile to get to come out, etc). I think anything goes nowadays...just decide what you want to do and make good memories!

Maybe 50 cents or a dollar at the most since its the first tooth so its like special. You dont want to give to much or they'll expect that much everytime.

We started giving gold dollars from the beginning. Sacagawea's to be exact. Our son just lost his last baby tooth & although he knew the tooth fairy wasn't real, he actually asked for his gold dollar! We made him put the tooth under his pillow anyway! LOL
