preservative flavourings, for instance of cheese
as a cooking flavouring, such as in sage and onion stuffing

Is Sage A Spice

If it is a dried sage, it should not have condensation in it. Get a new Sage jar at the Supermarket... they are cheap enough. I would run the empty spice jar through the dishwasher. That should sanitize it fairly good. If you want to go another step, soak it in a mixture of 2 cups water plus 1/2 teaspoon of bleach for about 25 minutes. Then run it through the dishwasher and let it dry thoroughly before using it for storing.

Sage and thyme go together like salt and pepper. Very popular in Mediterranean cooking, thyme is used most with beef and sage with poultry, but the two combined can be added to many dishes, like suppa di pesce (fish soup), or saltimbocca, or any pasta with seafood.

hi...sage is an herb that you can have in your garden. I buy one every spring and use the leaves all through the summer and fall. I like it toasted in mashed potatoes and it is good in butter melted for corn on the cob and I put it on roasted tomatoes along with the basil and oregano.
