God does not punish anyone with torment or torture. That would make him unjust. Hell is not a place of eternal torment like Christendom teaches. The Bible hell is where all people go when they die. It is the common grave.
How do we know that hell is the grave? Well, we can read many verses in God's Word that assures us of that fact. Here are but a few:
Psalm 139:8--"If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there." (If hell is a fiery, hot place of torture, would David think God (Psalms 83:18) would be there ?)
Amos 9:2--"Though they dig into hell, From there My hand shall take them; Though they climb up to heaven, From there I will bring them down." ( Can you dig into fire? No, but you can dig into the earth and God can find you no matter where you try to hide.)
Jonah 2:2--"And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice." ( The belly of the fish would have been Jonah's grave, if God had not rescued him.)
Ecclesiates 3:19,20--"For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again."
( Humans and animals go to the same place when they die)
Revelation 1:18--"I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." (Why would Jesus need keys to hell? Because the dead do not have to stay in hell forever; they can be resurrected back to life.)
Revelation 20:13-14--"And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death." (Hell delivers up the dead, meaning a resurrection from the grave), and what happens to death & hell? They are thrown into the lake of fire, meaning total destruction.
God is love and tortures no one.

I, being a Christian, do not want anyone to go to hell. The only problem is that it is not my choice but yours. You won't go to heaven by just being/acting like a Christian though. The only way to heaven is by the acceptance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross for your sins. As far as the being Christian being a waste of time, only for those who have not accepted Jesus's sacrifice will it be in vain. Without that acceptance it doesn't matter what a person does, they still choose to go to hell. Some people may think me to be a bigot because of the belief but so be it, I am currently doing studies of the Bible myself and have to that being the conclusion. I don't want to have anyone think I am "forcing" my beliefs because that's not the case. Jesus came to tell people the good news and to be the good news. He didn't point the finger and get in their face (except for those that were using the Temple for a marketplace). Hope this all answers your question. God bless.

Of course I would never wish you to go to 'hell', although my idea of hell is probably different than yours.( I feel hell is when you are without God) and I also believe the only ones who get to heaven are the ones who recognize Jesus Christ(the visible image of God).As the Bible says the only way to get to the Father is through the Son. I think the punishment for being a non believer of God, and Jesus Christ is a fair punishment, yes. The information on God is widley available. If it is denied that just proves peoples hearts are too hard to accept the truth. God loves all, and wants all to be saved, that is why he sent Christ to save us.

If you are a true atheist, why are you asking about heaven and hell?
For you, since there is no god, then there must not be a devil, a heaven or hell either.
But no, Christians do not WANT you to go to hell. But, people do not get into heaven without being a believer in Jesus Christ (a Chriistian).

I think some Christians can be pretty judgmental unfortunately. Some non Christians can be judgmental as well. I don't think I would want to see Adolf Hitler and Charles Manson strolling around the pearly gates but I think if we make it that far it won't matter anyway. It's not up to us to decide. You pose an interesting question. I think that just because you don't choose to accept an "alter call" or "ask Jesus into your heart" you should be condemned to an eternity of damnation. My dad was a great person but he never bought into the religion thing. I'd hate to think he's frying because of a seemingly questionable choice he didn't make.

I would hate to see anybody going to hell. The problem with your question is that people can't get to heaven without one thing and that is Jesus. Jesus is such an easy answer, maybe being an atheist is a waste of time. What do u think?

The only understanding I have of atheist is they don't believe in God
I can just tell you that my prayer for you is to come to the knowledge of the truth,
No-one in his right mind would want anyone to go to hell
Hell was created for the devil and his angels
not for us.
God is the final judge,
The bible says that if you are not born again by his spirit you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven
You must be born again by the spirit of God, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved
Is that so hard??
Love and prayers

The true Christian wants everyone to be saved, because God wants everyone to be saved.
Though to wish that someone goes to hell can be a temptation for even good Christians.
To be perfected in Christianity and charity, means wishing the best for everyone, and leaving judgment to God.
It is a virtue that all Christians must struggle to acquire.
We are to do good to everyone, no matter who they are, and leave the rest to God (though if someone is harmful, it is only prudent to avoid that person to avoid harm. That is not hating that person. That is just good sense).

No, that's just the opposite of what most religious people want, be they Catholic or Protestant or whatever. They want everyone to believe what they believe, because they believe that if one doesn't believe it, they will suffer. It's kind of ridiculous, to be honest. But most religious people would hope you to be converted and saved from that suffering, hence the way they try to shove it down your throat. Not ALL religious people do this, and most of those who do actually mean well... as sad as that may seem.
I believe that whatever you believe will happen to you when you die is what -will- happen to you. Only people who believe they will go to Hell do, and vice versa.
The only real punishment for being non-Christian is putting up with all the fanatics. But then, there are fanatics of every religion, and extremists of every religion too. They all have their psychos. Most Christians are just simple people trying to find something bigger than themselves to believe in.
