It should be whoever initiated the date. If I ask a guy out, I pay, and vice versa. If it's a relationship, I expect to trade off. I get the movie, he gets dinner. Unless he makes a gazillion dollars. Dating is expensive!! Don't forget, women have LOTS of unseen dating expenses - make up, hair, waxing, clothes. I always try to be fair though.

Well it is normally the guy who pays but l think to be fair it should really be a shared thing. My husband normally pays and is happy to do it but sometimes l just jump in and say l will get this one. Also l guess it depends on how long the two of you have been going out together.

Well, when I first met my husband now - my sister, himself and I went to Taco Bell. I paid for all of their meals.....and he felt so awful he really didn't want to eat anything. He was waitting on his check from a rig and told me he would pay me back. I told him no, besides we weren't even dating. 2 days later he asked me to a movie and when he picked me up he slipped the $30 in my purse (for my sister and her childrens meal as well) I tried to refuse it but he didn't let me!
Now we have been married 2 yrs and he gets me to pay when he gets the chance .......and it is all his money lol! See, he works and I stay home with our 2 kids. When he gets paid he gives me money for bills and my "play" money.
I think it should be an equal thing though if you are both working - I mean relationships are supposed to be 50/50 right?

I'm old fashioned so I think the male should pay for the majority of the dates, BUT the woman should pay sometimes to show her appreciation.

I am old fashioned girl, I believe the man should pay. But it also depends on who asks who out. If the woman asks out the man then it is proper for her to pay.

this may sound bad.. many would say split it amoung dates. I know I feel bad when a guy pays for everything, but then again I feel weird when I have to pay unless Im taking him out for his birthday or something. honestly usually it should be the guy.

I say both. Generally I will pay every time, however, I like to be treated as well.

sometimes it's nice to be the one to pay. if he doesn't want you to pay he will say so .it's called going 'dutch' or you can each pay for your own ...whatever it is .it also depends on how long you have been going together and whether or not you are serious /engaged .
