Dogs eat the cat poo because it is a normal thing. The best thing to do is to keep the litter box away from him/her and try to be consistany on telling him/her that it is wrong.

Its normal, my Basset does it too. I firmly tell her "no" everytime she gets near the kitty litter box. However, I got tired of having to watch her like a hawk, so I put the kitty litter box in a closet and stuck a children's gate in the door jam. I leave the closet door cracked for the cats and when they need to use the box they jump over the gate. My Basset is so low to the ground she can't get to it. Its worked out perfectly! The cats like the added security too, or I think they do!

Cats need diets very high in protein, and their systems are ineffecient at using it - so much is passed through in their feces. This is why many dogs eat it - disgusting to us, but tasty to them.
I suggest putting hot sauce or bitter apple (available at pet supply stores) on the feces for a few days & this should deter him. If not, the way I fixed the problem with my dogs was by putting the litter box in closet & blocking the door open only about 5 inches. They were large dogs with big heads, so it worked great.

I think most dogs do this. My solution was to get a covered litter box. They can still stick their heads into some of the covered litter boxes, so just get one that the cat has to crawl into from underneath or go around a corner to get to the litter. You'll know what I mean once you see the various covered boxes they sell at Petsmart or PetCo.

How about if you
a) give him something to eat
b) place the litter box out of his reach - like up high where a cat can jump but a dog cannot
c) ask him why he likes to eat it?
My guess??? - He's probably spending too much time with you and he is bored!
Sprinkle??? Why don't you springle for a phone call to your vet IF YOU REALLY ARE SERIOUS!

We got the Booda Dome cat box, seems to work pretty well for our dogs. You can get it at Petsmart or Petco.I have yet to meet a dog that doesn't like cat poop. It's a pretty normal thing, gross, but not abnormal.

Every dog I know does that, I guess it's just a dog thing. My dog does, and we just scold her. Try febrezing the litter box and put it in a different place. If your dog cant smell it, they cant find it. Hope this helps.
