Georgia Law does not require that a State Trooper show you his radar, more properly called speed detection device. In fact, they don't have to lock your speed on the unit at all. Municipal police officers, i.e., city, county and state universities, must ask you if you would like for them to conduct a series of tests on the speed detection device to see if it is working properly. That's all that is required before they can issue a citation. Oh yea, I forgot. It's a huge safety issue to let a person come back to the patrol car unless he/she is under arrest. Some officers have obliged the request to see the radar and have ended up being struck by passing motorists.

No. It doesnt even help if you do get to see it anyway, theres nothing to see. If you are attempting to fight the ticket, then you can ask for the records on the radar which will show where its been calibrated. Meaning that the speed you were clocked at and the radar shows, was your actual speed

No. Police officers are not required to give you anything you ask for, (other than your phone call). You may attempt to subpoena the detector records in court should you decide to fight the ticket, but the officer doesn't have to on the scene.

NO, and actually they will not if you do, since they don't want you in their car, ( a security issue)
Also radar guns are not always locked on the highest speed.
the officer watches the speed, and often it will go down from the highest speed.

In Ohio they offer to show you, but what would that prove? As a previous responder stated, it's more useful to have your attorney ask for the calibration records.
