I am starting to notice some signs of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in myself. Is it possible to suspect that you have a mental disorder without it being diagnosed? Does it mean that something ISN'T a mental disorder if you suspect it? I guess what I mean is: Should this be a matter of true concern, or am I just weird?

I'm pretty sure you can diagnose yourself with a mental disorder. I have. But of course no one takes me seriously. lol. I guess you could be a hypochondriac... but that's also a mental disorder... and if you think you are a hypochondriac and you aren't... does that mean you really are? hahaha.

My Answer is yes. OCD is something you can usually spot pretty easily because it's things you actually do and not just things you may feel or think. I'd discuss it with someone and google it/ do some research.

SEE A PSYCHIATRIST! 1. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder 2. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder 3. Major Depressive Disorder 4. Social Anxiety 5. Schizophrenia They’re just FIVE of the mental conditions you could have. They can all be treated with an SSRI, an atypical antipsychotic, or both, along with cognitive therapy from a clinical psychologist. Thyroxine is not what you need, you don’t have an endocrine disorder. Let me tell you something else, something from personal experience, the system can only fail you as a KID, you're an ADULT now, you're 31 years old! That means you've been FAILING YOURSELF for at least 13 years! That self-pity, that blaming, using the Internet, all that hasn't helped you. Quit living in the past and take control of your own life.

If you think you have a problem, then you should see a doctor to be properly diagnosed. It is possible to know you have a disorder and not be able to change it, thus the reason you should see a doctor. You may not have a disorder, you may just be slightly up tight, some people just are!

You can suspect anything you want! It may or may not be the case. To get a proper diagnosis, see a doctor. If you want to diagnose myourself, google information about OCD. You will get symptoms and quizzes for you to take. Probably the biggest question to ask yourself is whether or not some activity you are doing is interfering with you and causing you not to accomplish things? If so, be concerned and get help.

You would have to suspect it in order to seek evaluation and treatment. Very few people visit the doctor just to say "Hi". If you suspect you have a disorder, then visit your doctor and tell your doctor what you think and why. Let your doctor diagnose (or not) and move forward. (either let it go or get treatment)

i have some OCD habits, but do not consider myself to have this disorder.
i sought treatment for depression and was diagnosed as bipolar, because i KNEW there was something wrong and needed treatment.
it is not like the old adage, "if you think you are crazy then you're not crazy."
if these signs of OCD bother you, and you are having problems, you should seek help. but being a little OCD is normal.

You are rare if you can already see behaviors similar to mental illnesses without being told first what those symptoms would be. A local clinic can often help you answer these types of questions.
