Ancient Israel is the land that was on the trade route between Rome and Egypt and which God gave to his chosen people.
They were taken captive and into slavery in Egypt and when Moses led the rebellion and they left Egypt traveled in a very roundabout way through the Sinai Desert and back to the land of Milk and Honey. This land is now called Israel.

Israel is Gods Land and he gave stewardship to the Hebrews after the exodus out of Eygpt with Moses leading them to what was known as the "promised land" originally Cannan.
