Having a BELIEF in something will probably turn your life around. You don't need to necessarily subscribe to a religion to do that. Its the lack of belief that hurts so much.
That and thoughts that this is all there is....I'd be depressed too if I thought that this life was the end all be all of our existence.
If you want to discuss further, you can send me an email if you like. If not, tis okay too. (not to worry, I'm not a zealot, I won't try and convert you to anything or religion).

You don't need religion in your life - religion is something made by man that defiles what you really need.
Don't get me wrong, going to church can be a crucial part of your relationship with God, and you can learn and grow in your realtionship with God. But, sometimes, denominations can get very wrapped up in internal politics, and even political correctness.
What you truly need is to get to know and open your heart to God.
Reading the Bible is a good place to start, but it's easy to get bogged down in the "thee's and thou's and begats." I would recommend getting a copy of "The Message/remix" by Eugene H. Peterson. It present the Bible in almost a story form. It's an easy read, and is true to the word of God in it's message. I would, however, not try to "read along" in church from it - but it is a great help to understand what has been presented in worship service.
You don't say how old you are, or where you live, but if you are in your teens or twenties and live in central Ohio - tune in to RadioU - 88.7 FM. It's a listener supported Christian alternative music station. No Amy Grant or Steven Curtis Chapman here. Just lots of LOUD rap, heavy metal, hip hop Christian songs. If you have access to Sky Angel cable, try TVU a video channel of the same music. If you don't live in central Ohio - you can find it and listen in at www.radioU.com - it's simulcast from the station.
I find a great sense of help, hope and comfort from Christian music. Sometimes, it can bring me back into focus when nothing else does.
Good luck, and God bless, my friend. I hope you find what/Who you're looking for. He's just a prayer away - and He's always there.

You'd be surprised - virtually anything can turn your life around. A new hair cut, a new diet program, a new way of thinking, a new understanding of the world around you, a new faith in your self and the Unknowable.

I have just come across this link for the Belief-o-matic that can help you find what religions you have similar beliefs with: http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_7665_1.html

But I am not being flip when I say that only you will change your life around. Either you will embrace a religion that helps you get through life or you will learn to change your own mind and perceptions toward prosperity and love. Whatever happens, it will be because you made a choice. I have heard it said and I repeat it often "More than doers, we are deciders. Once the decision is truly made, the doing becomes effortless."

Thoughts become things, so please pick the good ones. Visualize yourself happy, healthy and at peace - looking great surrounded by love. Do it as strongly and as often as you can. When you hear you mind say something negative you stop it and say "NO! That is wrong" - and say something positive, even if that is simply "I am safe!" or "it's ok". The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

Peace!

PS - here's my favorite site to go to when I need a bit of inspiration: http://www.consciousone.com/c1Cards/cardsView.cfm?cardGroupID=1

On-line Angel Cards. I don't belong to any particular religion (I scored as a Unitarian Universalist when I took the Belief-o-matic myself). xoxo!

Nothing good ever comes from Religion, However a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ is highly beneficial.

Going to church is something He asks of so that we may grow and learn more about Him.

Read the Bible, and ask God to reveal Himself to you. I have found that when my life is going in turmoil I can grab a scripture and quote it and rely on God (while doing what I can to make my situation better) but I have peace when I do that and Joy. (check out my answer to what marvels you about your religion.)

I think in your heart, you know what you need and when you need it. If you feel a need for God to be in your life now, then by all means go and visit the church of your choice.....He will be there waiting for you...
And by the way, if you are not religious, God still loves you.! As long as you love God and have him in your heart, he will always be there for you.... I'm ashamed to say that sometimes I don't think about God, but then when I do and I need him, He is always there for me....HE makes things work out somehow! good luck to you! and May God Bless!

Life is going to be unbearable and hard at times, religion or no religion.

Sure, belief in a superior deity or set of deities who watch over you comforts most people, but religion isn't a necessity for life.
Sometimes life is better without it.
If you think you really need a religion, I'm not going to be selfish and stupid enough to tell you which one to become---that's your decision.

Whatever you are, be a good one.

I feel for you. I know what you going through. I was going through hard times with verbal abuse and things with my father and I thought I was this little person screaming but know one even glancing at me. I had gone to church in the past but never really liked it or "felt" anything. Well one day I was just as low as I could get. I pray and I asked God for help and I asked Jesus Christ into my life. I told God I was sorry for my sins in the past and to help me through my hard times. He did. I started going to church again and I started seeing results in my life. God didnt take away all the pain in my life but he gave me the strength to battle through it. Life is hard. Pray and keep praying. In all my experiences I learn the God is the only true thing that matters in my life.

It is a relationship with Christ that can turn your life around rather than a religion.

Look for a bible believing church in your area. Find a bible study to get into. Study the Word of God. Ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior.

Your life circumstances may not get any better, but Jesus will hang in there with you all the way.

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humlbe in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My load is light." Matthew 11:28-30

If you have questions about Christianity, and bible study, feel free to email me. Blessings to you.

I seriously do not believe that joining a religion will better my life. I am happy with the way my life is now, but if it wasn't good, I would not automatically think of religion. I'd get the support of my friends and family, and if they were not available, then support groups.

I've already been down the religion road, just not for me. I think it's destructive.

I wouldn't give you a nickel for all the religion in the world...but I gave my life and my soul to Jesus Christ and that has made all the difference in the world.....

you need a living relationship with God, not religion.
