everybody mentions the medical treatments available today, I think it would eliminate Van Gogh's ability and genius.
Today, it would not be acceptable for him to be drunk on Absinthe. (The same for Hemingway...)
The Green Fairie brought out a level that is normally unaccessable to the norm of society.
BTW, Absinthe was outlawed due to bootleggers making poison
much like copper still whiskey, but it is now available in a much less potent form.

Van Gogh is my favorite Artist and I believe that if he were alive to-day, then the internet would certainly help him further his career, along with drugs to suit his type of depression. Those are my thoughts as I myself am a Artist!

Van Gogh's artistic period lasted half a decade. It isn't widely accepted, but quite obvious to me Vincent Van Gogh was bipolar.
Nowadays we have miracle pills... one day we'll have a cure.

you could also do it from the medical aspect. it is widely believed that he suffered from both physical and mental disorders. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vincent_van_Gogh's_medical_condition
Perhaps you could write about how medical technology would have helped him
