Yes, it has been mentioned that Valium can give you short-term memory loss especially if used on a high dosage. And I HAVE took Valium before prescribed for depression/anxiety.

Also, if you take a low dosage and end up abusing it like I did (with alcohol) then you can pass out and lose conscience with no memory of the earlier events.

That`s a funny question for me.I take it for axniety everyday.I am a Superintendent and all I do is leave notes for myself.If I don`t write it down I tend to forget.I still an not sure if thats a side affect or not but will be checking these answers.
