While Jeremiah looks upon the potter's work, God darts into his mind two great truths. God has authority, and power, to form and fashion kingdoms and nations as he pleases. He may dispose of us as he thinks fit; and it would be as absurd for us to dispute this, as for the clay to quarrel with the potter. But he always goes by fixed rules of justice and goodness. When God is coming against us in judgments, we may be sure it is for our sins; but sincere conversion from the evil of sin will prevent the evil of punishment, as to persons, and to families, and nations.

It is referring to the gift of choice, and God's gifts are without repentance. It means, "I have set before (you and me) life or death, blessing or cursing, therefore choose life so that you and your seed (kids and kids' kids etc) shall live.
Out of the tongue (what you say) comes life or death, blessing or cursing. It can be lit with the fires of hell, or with a blessing that really will happen by faith. It is like a rutter that can steer your ship to the right or wrong direction.
Repent and make the right choice (speak only good over yourselves and do only what God wants) and the warning (what he said would happen if you didn't repent) will go away
Jesus already paid the price for our sins, so we might as well repent and stop doing them with His help, and not pay twice for the same incidents =)
have fun in the blessing! =)

Verse 6 is important here as it gives the meaning. All things not reflecting the Creator's idea, in disobedience to God, are cast down by their own imperfection, signifying that human errors can not be accepted, and that God is in control of all. The spiritual law here is that in obedience, only good can come, but going astray leads us away from good.

It means God decides what to do based on what people do. Even before Jeremiah was born God had regrettted having make the human race, but in light of Jeremiah's good prophecies, God decided on a wait and see attitude.

If you read a few verses before that, the Lord is saying that He is the potter and we are the clay. He molds us and shapes us. When we walk in odedience, thats how He designed us to be, but when we sin and are disobedience, we still have to accept our discipline.
If my people who are called by name will humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, I will fogive their sin... All things work for the good of those that believe, who are called ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE (meaning, in His will)
