A really good exercise is using an elliptical machine, or pilates....
Stand with feet apart, toes pointed outwards, and hands on the outside of your thighs.
Keeping your back straight, at right-angles to the floor, bend knees and allow your hands to slide down your thighs until they reach your knees. (Keep back straight!)
Hold your knees for a count of 5, then slowly return to start position.
Repeat 10-20 times
and another:
Stand with feet slightly apart.
Stretch your arms straight out ahead of you.
Slowly bend your knees, until your thighs are roughly parallel with the floor.
Slowly raise yourself back to the starting position
The slower you do this, the better.
Start with 10 real slow ones.
But please don't strain yourself. Go at your own pace.
and always stretch afterwards...example from the site is:
Sit on the floor with legs apart and stretched out in front of you
Reach upwards with both arms
Then reach forwards and try to clasp your right ankle. As you do so, push your upper body towards the floor
Hold the position for a count of 20
Repeat with left ankle

Doing Squarts! 3 times a day. I garrantee you will feel it the next day! That is a promise. These quarts are basically a deep, upright done on the toes with assist from the arms; the arms come down and behind the body as you lower yourself, and then swing up asyou rise. it feels wonderful once you set the groove and the rhythm.
Start:
1. Begin with your hands pulled in tight to the chest.
2. Bring your hands down and lower your body. Keep hands behind your back for balnace.
3. Come up on your toes at the bottom. Keep your body upright and your arms down.
4. Swing the arms forward and push off your toes.
5. as you rise, the arms continue up to chest level. When your're upright, pull your hands in the chest and begin again.
It is recommended that you do as many nonstop repetitions as possible. In the beginning, depending on your condition, you'll probally be able to do 25 to 50. A 100 reps is good.
