I know you think that there is not much difference between your ages, but when you are 26, you will very likely read a letter like this and go "Yuck!" You won't be able to imagine what a 26 year old can possibly see in a sixteen year old. And you will most likely question--not the sixteen year old's motives, but those of the 26 year old. You will change and grow up and learn so much in the next ten years that should make you feel worlds apart from someone still in their teens.
I don't know what the Michigan laws are, but in my opinion you need to back up and focus your energy and attention on those closer to your own age. When you get into your late 20's, getting together with someone 10 years older won't be as much of a gap, but now, you simply lack life experience, and it's not normal (or appropriate) for a 26 year old to pursue a relationship with a 16 year old.

If you are only 16, I think I would wait awhile longer, because it could be just the idea sounding good that its an older man, and I don't think it would sit too good with a few people depending on your situation, but I was in that situation once myself and I know now that it would have turned out worse than I thought it would.
You still have your whole life ahead of you, you don't need to throw it away on a grown man, who probably just likes the idea of having a younger woman.

You can DATE, but you cannot legally have sex until you are 18. Especially if your parents have a problem with it. Until you are 18, it is statutory rape. I wouldn't take the chance, especially if you care about them, because you don't want them to end up in jail.

No, probably not. I'm pretty sure sex between you would be a crime in all the United States.
You're looking to get that person jailed. Don't do it.
