For all you stupid women complaining about the nut shots obviously didnt watch the slo-mo replay or any of Matt Hughes' other fights. Anytime Hughes gets in trouble he fakes a nut shot or eye poke (GSP2, Penn2, Trigg2). If you watch the reply the first "nut shot" hit him square front of his left leg, and the second was to his lower left leg, they only way for it to have even contacted Matt's balls is for 1 him to have not been wearing a cup (which he was because its required and Big John checks before the fights) and 2 he would have to have balls that hang down half a foot. GSP walked thru hughes just like he did every other opponent he's faced save Penn.
And yes I think it was stopped early same with the mir/vera fight. Yes they were in trouble taking shots but the only reason a ref has the right to stop the fight is when a fighter is unconcious or so groggy they dont even put up defense. Hughes was done and so was mir but they still had the ability to try and block shots. Do I question the winner of either fight? no but refs need to chill out.

Absolutley not. And everyone who keeps saying **** about how GSP kicked him in the balls, are you even real mma fans??? They were inner thigh kicks, the same that Gracie used agaisnt Hughes, and in the post fight interview Hughes specifically said he did not get hit in the balls and it did not affect the outcome of the fight. I hate Hughes, but I do admit he's a good fighter and he impressed me by admitting his defeat like a man. GSP got the better of him. Hughes tried to beat GSP at his own game, stand up, and it didnt work out. Overall great fight, but Hughes shoulda at least attempted to bring it to the ground. He was outclassed, just like he was when they last fought, difference being GSP learned from his mistake and didnt let his guard down and allow Hughes an easy submission. Hughes is good, and he'll be back but he's not on a level with GSP or BJ Penn, he's a wrestler at heart, the future is with the all around guys.

Nope...I think after the two elbows by GSP landed squarely on Hughes' face and his head bounced against the canvas for the seventh time, it was good time to stop the fight...
But really, all sarcasm aside, Hughes took too many direct shots and Big John was right in stopping the fight. If you look at Vera vs. Mir, the fight was stopped in the same manner and Vera had to thread punches through Mir's arms to hit him. Granted Mir took a big knee, the kick to Matt's head had some serious impact power (thanks in part to Matt lowering his head at the same moment) and punches are nothing compared to elbows being dropped with your opponent's body weight behind them...

I think Big John stopped the fight at just the right time. GSP landed two very solid, powerful elbows right to Hughes' face. Hughes could not defend. He was about to eat more elbows.
Big John - the best in the business.

Hughes did not know it was a kick that knocked him out he thought it was a punch the ref was right in stopping the fight before any real damage happened

I think so, I believe that you let the championship matches go a bit more, you always give the benefit of the doubt to the champ, no matter if you like him or not, But I believe Matt Hughes was going to roll him up, in a few seconds, Matt took more punishment in the Frank Trigg fight, and they let that go a bit. But hey, Georges is a great fighter. I'm looking forward to the rematch, and I also can't wait for Georges to fight Diego Sanchez

LOL are you kidding me... that dumb bastard was getting his *** handed to him... that and GSP knocked a tooth of Matt's out. He is WAY due for a loss especially to the new champ. Matt's NOT going to be back on top. He had a good run, but those days are OVER.
To all you Hughes nut huggers... his "excuse" of being hit in the balls twice is being made fun of on major MMA websites. hit in the balls my ***. ITS A FIGHT!!! not a grandpa slap match! DEAL WITH IT!

I think the referee gave him too much time....the guy was out of it since the end of the first round. But yeah, I agree what a shame

When a guy is so out of it that he didn't even know what hit him, it's time to stop the fight.
