A co-worker's mother passed away this weekend. We'd like to send flowers, but do not know where to begin to find information. All we know is her last name, and that she lived in Queens, NY.

do a google search with the last name and city and state in quotation marks.
Another thing that is okay to do is to call the co-worker and offer your condolences then ask either where to send the card or which place is taking care of the service. I would avoid telling them you are sending flowers as most people will say "ahh you don't have to do that" but deep down the effort is appreciated.

Do you know the names of the local newspapers? If so, you can search them on line and click on obituaries. You may also want to try Legacy.com. You can search obituaries from there. I am not sure is there is a fee. But, if you know the last name, that's a big help. Good luck.

Go to your local newspaper's website and click onto the obiturary section. That's what I do when I look up friends and acquaintances who passed away.l
