It could just be the air. Eventually you will adapt to whatever changes the changes may be. Drink bottled water if you are concerned about the water, or boil it for a minimum of one minute. Know your limit for alcohol. If it has nothing to with alcohol and you are drinking plenty of bottled water it should go away. Maybe you can take a closer look at where you are living, check to make sure there is no mold anywhere because mold has a way of hiding in remote areas. If you are really concerned, go talk to a doctor. Hopefully, it won't cost you too much since you are in a foreing country. If this persists for many months, I highly recomend you going to a doctor. If the doctor says there is nothing wrong I would also get a second or third opinion. I only say this because some doctors are stupid. I had one friend who suffered from severe migrains and he kept going to his doctor about it. He even suspected it could be cancer since he was a heavy smoker, the doctor said he was fine so he just put up with it. Not until he was on his honeymoon in Hawaii did he get a severe seizure, and the doctors saw that he had cancer all throught his brain and body. The doctors were shocked that it hadn't been detected by the previous doctor he kept going to. Although, the doctors gave him two months to live he lived for two years more, enduring endless chemo. Had the doctor taken his migrains more seriously, he could have started chemo way sooner before it had spread way too much. Now, your headaches could just be simple non-threatning headaches, but it wouldn't hurt to get it checked out. If this goes on for a long time and the doctor thinks nothing of it, go to another doctor. Try not to become too dependant on pain killers.

There are quite a few possibilites. Barometric pressure is a big headache trigger, so if that is very different from where you lived, it could be it. I doubt that it is the water, because, even if it were not "clean," you'd suffer with other symtoms. As a migraine sufferer, I don't believe that is a trigger. It could be something new in your diet. It could be stress because you're waking up with it. You could be clenching your teeth at night.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

Cats are maximum energetic in the time of daybreak and nightfall, which works in the direction of explaining the 'crazies' family members cats journey in the time of those circumstances. BTW, cats are actually not nocturnal. they're crepuscular. My male cat wakes me each and every morning at 5:30am. every day. on the dot. Like clockwork.
