It was either marajuana or xanax. If it was the marajuana, it would've only been a joint's worth. If it was Xanax, it could've been at the most, four .50's. No lectures please. We rushed her to the animal hospital where they're keeping her overnight. She was stumbling and very lethargic but barking like she was crazy. It was all very sudden. She was a perfectly healthy 6 month old Sheltie and all of the sudden, this happened. I had the RX for the Xanax and I do keep it in my medicine cabinet but I accidentally dumped it in bed (where she was napping) the other day but I was pretty sure I found them all. My bf smokes weed sometimes and may have dropped a little. He's quitting now, he feels so bad. We don't have kids. I love my puppy so much and will never get over it if she's not okay. Once again, no lectures. People make mistakes. Remember, we've all done something stupid.

Xanax would poison her, so it's a good thing you took her to the vet. Based on the barking, I would say she didn't get into the marijuana.

The Xanax will go straight through her blood to the liver, where the liver will try to clean the toxin from her system. Your vet will find high liver readings because it will be damaged from the toxin. He/She will administer subcutaneous fluids, allow her to vomit as much as possible (or induce it) and basically watch over her. There will be damage to the liver; however, the good news is the liver regenerates. You just don't want any kidney damage, etc. So ... long story short, your puppy may indeed survive, but it's going to cost you and take a while until she is out of the woods.

What kind of dog is she? If it's a small bred, the risks are higher. Either way, with either drug there ciould be liver damage. She could live with it, my sister pitbull ate an entire new bottle of aspirin while she was at work and is on medicine the rest of her life but she's alive and happy. Really the only person who would know is a vet. Depends on how much she got, how much digested, etc. Major lesson hopefully learned, NEVER have anything like that near where animals can be. I won't lecture, that's not what you need right now!!

No advice. Just a story.

My dog thinks anything in a crinkly wrapper is a snack. She goes crazy begging. 15 years ago I was on the pill. I guess my dog heard the wrapper crinkle when I took it that morning. While I was away for the day in class. She ate them. I rushed her to the vet when I got home. He said she would be fine. I on the other hand could not get a refill until the following Monday. My husband had just gotten back from Iraq (Desert Storm) and don't you know I got pregnant. My son is a Desert Storm baby.

Count your blessings it could have been worse!

I don't think your dog had xanax.. it sounds like weed. My dog used to be a big stoner and used to always sniff out our stash and eat it. He's eaten thousands of dollars worth of weed. The stumbling and barking sounds very similar to the symptoms my dog went through. He's been eating weed since he was born and he's still okay. He's a very smart dog and knows a lot of tricks. He's quit weed though, as did I.

considered one of my puppies did the real comparable element, have been given into my person dogs food that fluctuate into moist food additionally (his substitute into dry). His abdomen substitute into bulged too. He substitute right into some months older than yours, yet there substitute into no harm executed, different than a tummy discomfort probable. 5mg (relies upon on dogs length..if below 10 lbs then 5mg, if 10 lbs then 10mg) of pepcid ac could help with it, yet in the past you supply something, you may ask the vet or emergency sanatorium, a decision asking won't value something..The pepcid ac will relieve any nausea or discomfort. you do no longer ought to blame your self or be problematical on your self or experience in charge..those issues happen to each proprietor, the final of homeowners too, oftentimes extra suitable than as quickly as lol. i've got had a husky/beagle blend and he ought to sniff out something, everywhere, open up any equipment or perhaps bottles. it extremely is not your fault or the dogs.

I've never done anything as stupid as leaving drugs where my pets could get at them. Pets are like children, you have to keep things that are harmful to them put up where they can't get it...in otherwords you have to be responsible. Being irresponsible like that doesn't say you love your puppy, it says you were either too lazy or too "busy" to make sure your puppy was out of harms way. Take the dog to the vet and hope he doesn't report you to the Aspca for seriously neglecting your puppy. Hopefully you will refrain from having any children because if you neglect a defenseless animal you sure as heck aren't going to be responsible enough to have children.

My roommate's dog got into my room and ate some xanax I had on my bed. We called the poison control center and they said not to feed or water him at all and that it would either make him really sleepy or really hyper. But his reflexes were off and he was bumping into things. It was really sad to see, but he was fine. I think your dog will be fine considering that you took her to the animal hospital. That instance made me really realize how many little things are around that are hazardous to dogs. Even though I'm really clean, I still make a note to puppy proof my room when I'm not around. I'm sorry you're going through this. It's not fun.

It is really hard to say if it will be ok or not. If you are not for sure what it got into. Your vet should be able to give you an idea of the recovery rate in a day or so. I hope your dog will be ok and you BOTH will be more careful!!!

Probably the xanax, you know that weed doesn't do that to people, and it doesn't do that to dogs, that said, you never know weather weed is clean. If the vet has her, she should be fine. Don't know why a dog would eat weed, but pills are often coated in sugar, and dogs will eat them because they start off tasting sweet. No worries, she'll be fine.

I doubt it was the marijuana causing that effect in your dog. She most likely got into your pills. It's good you brought her to the veterinarian immediately. Are you sure nothing else was lying arounf the house that your dog could get into? Dogs are allergic to common household items, such as onions, chocolate, poinsettas around the holidays, some plants, etc.
