Yes.
By all accounts Buffett & Gates are decent men.
Sharing their immense wealth can make a difference on a worldwide scale.
They are using the power of their wealth to address the suffering of the most needy.
They know they "can't take it with them" .
Hope it encourages others .
Don't see how any sane person can condemn their efforts
There are plenty of people who could give many millions & not even feel it.
Guess another diamond watch is worth more to them than saving lives.

I am interested in seeing how that money will actually be used. If it will mostly go to support corrupt regimes in Africa then it was a waste, but if it can actually improve the quality of life and eventually cause economic stabilization in much of the third world then it will be one of the greatest successes in modern history.

I tend to be more pessimistic I think that Africa will be a economic and social black hole for the next 50+ years, but I hope I am wrong.

The word is "admirable". And no, they weren't.

How did they get so rich? By overcharging the public for products and services. If they really wanted to do a public service, they would have reduced the price of their products and made a smaller profit, leaving more money in consumers' pockets. Gates is so rich he could give away Vista for free; selling it for hundreds of dollars is pure greed.

how could any thinking person condemn caring and giving??? We are one world, show me a countries border on the ground! They are invisible lines that politicians tell us about, helping Africans not die from malaria is a real and very good thing to do. Are there other people who need help? Of course. This world is so full of need it is practically busting at its seams. Any help is good, any money given can mean real help for real people. We are all people, money given for malaria and AIDS are money well spent.

No, because they donate outside of the United States. they give to Africa. Who cares about Africa, when we have millions of homeless and starving kids over here that need help.
