I'm getting my doctoral physical examination and swearing in at MEPS this coming Wednesday, and was wondering if they will say I need to have surgery for circumcision.

I watched my brother go through it last year at 19 years old (I'm 17 now) and it sucked. a LOT. He couldn't move, walk, do anything comfortably for atleast three weeks.

There has never been a requirement for any Amry organisation for compulsary male circumcision. However, after the First World War, it was common practice for all boys to be circumcised at birth. This was done under the belief that sand and dirt would get trapped under the foreskin, causing an infection if the boy was sent to war, and an infected foreskin in war couldn't have been good!!

So No. You will not be required to be circumcised to join the army, feel privillaged that you got to keep yours. There are many of us out there who can only dream of still having one!

The Bible required (past tense) all Jews to be circumcised. Christians were never required to be circumcised.

No they do not. Not unless it is causing you a severe problem. But I can think of know circumstance where they would.

I spent 6 years in the Army with 2 tours in Iraq and have never heard of such a thing.
