one common muscle problem is just aches, treatment, quit crestor
another problem, rare, is myositis, treatment again, quit crestor,
if your myositis was severe then you would not be here on this forum, you would be in the hospital
remember you always have a right to a second opinion,
good luck

Crestor is one of the many anti-cholesterol drugs that are now available. I took it for about 12 months and it did not drop my cholesterol below 200. I had the dose increased to the maximum and it still did not reduce my cholesterol low enough. I simply switched off Crestor and tried another anti-cholesterol drug until I found the one that worked the best for me. Frankly there is nothing to be afraid of with any of the anti-cholesterol drugs. The VA prefers Crestor because it seems to work in most cases and it is less expensive than some of the other drugs. I had no side effects at all with Crestor it just did not reduce my cholesterol as much as I needed. Your fear is unjustified. If you do have any side effects once you stop the drug they will go away but I frankly doubt you need to be concerned. The side effect that is most common is myalgia, which is a type of muscle pain. Different statins work with different people. You may be using Lipitor and have myalgia but not with Crestor. I am a little concerned about some of the comments listed below mine. They do not represent current research or current medical reality. I have been able to reduce my cholesterol to well below 200. I come from a family where the adult males die of heart disease. I also have a research background where I can evaluate the reasoning that I need to either take a drug or not take a drug. If you have an abnormally high cholesterol you need to reduce it. That is why I am assuming your phsycian gave it to you. Statins have the ability to reduce the anti-inflamatory effects in your body and thus improve your cardiovascular health. I would chat with your phsyician if you continue to feel uncomfortable with your statin.
