To be frank, that's not the best reason to breed a dog. There are lots of dogs at the animal shelter. Also, golden retrievers have a huge tendency towards hip dyplasia. If you accidental cross the wrong two parents, you could end up having to put down an entire litter due to hip dysplasia. Genetic tests can determine the likelihood of this, ask your vet. Puppies also cost a ton of time and money. You have to be there pretty much all the time for the first eight weeks of their life, and they need shots, food, prenatal care, possibly a c-section. If you still want to continue, any time past two years is OK for the female, and most boys either "have it" or don't, meaning that there is no age where they will be better at being bred, provided that they are fully grown, or over two years.

Male dogs can successfully produce litters as young as 6 months of age, however, it would be ideal to wait until your dog is older (2 to 3 years of age) so that you can make certain that your dog will not pass along any genetic defects or negative behavioral traits to its offspring.
The dog will eventually have less viable sperm as he ages, which is another thing to take into consideration. Certain kennel clubs have very specific restrictions about how old a dog can be in order to register his litter! Too young or too old can prevent the litter from being registered.
I hope this helps! And you can also find lots of information at the American Kennel Club's website as well : www.akc.org
Best of luck :-)

You should probably wait until he is 3 years old. The female should be 2-3 years old, too.
Giving my opinion (yes master, I know you don't CARE about over population of dogs and how many dogs are put to sleep each DAY due to irresponsible breeding): You should NOT contribute to this. Puppies, as well as adult dogs are being put to sleep each day because of irresponsible breeding of dogs.
Do me a real small favor and devote 4 minutes of your time to watching this incredibly sad but true movie: http://www.brightlion.com/InHope/InHope_en.aspx

Though I'm not a big supporter of unexperince dog breeders breeding, they female should be at age four. And the male should be atleast 4 or over. Same as the female. If a young female has pups this can either kill her, or produce unhealthy pups.
Hoped I helped!

Breeding causes overpopulation. Don't contribute to the problems with puppies being put to sleep.
