A woman having her first pregnancy is a primigravida and if she has delivered she is a primipara. If she has had 2 to 5 pregnancies she is a miltigravida and multipara and if she has greater than that she is a grand multigravida and grand multipara. A newborn is also called a neonate.

first pregnancy - primigravida (primi- first, gravida = pregnancy)
newborn - neonate (neo- = new, nat(al) = born)
