I notice that a lot of glass beer bottles such as Miller Lite, Michelob, Natural Ice, and etc are tinted. They are usually brown colored bottles. Is there a reason why they make the bottles like this? I asked about it and even my parents wanted to know. Im guessing its to disguise the color of the beer because it kinda looks like urine (this is just one of my stupid guesses).

You might notice that most beer bottles are colored brown the reason for this, it prolongs the life of the beer. In other words it won't go bad. if bottled in a clear bottle like MGD for instance it won't last as long as say a budwiser

Most beer bottles have a tint or color so that the ingredients don't degrade due to sun exposure. There are also lots of marketing strategies involved in the color of the bottles. For instance, some want an image that says "cool & crisp" while others want a "full flavor" image.

If you want the beer to taste good, glass bottles. If it's an ale I like it bottle-primed (that's when they carbonate it in the bottle by putting a little sugar in it so it ferments and there's a little yeast down the bottom). If you just want to slam it down as fast as possible, cans because you can shot-gun it (cut a hole in the side near the bottom, put your mouth over the hole and open the can at the top so you can chug the whole thing in two seconds).

It is because sunlight is bad for beer (and some wines) so the tinting keeps out the light and prevents it from going skunky

I heard years ago that beer bottles which were most always brown, were so because it kept the beer more fresh because it kept the light out which aged it faster......is does make some sense

sunlight can easily ruin a good beer so the bottles are tinted so that the flavor of the beer stays intact

I think it is to keep light out of the beer because being exposed to too much light would change the taste.

i think the light effects the taste of the beer, so they tint the glass.. it does taste and look like piss to me, but i guess it tastes worse when its left in direct sunlight.
