First things first; Has this been a recent change? By this I mean within the last month - 2 months.
If so you may suffer from something called SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). The cause of this is when the days become shorter and we see less sunlight or bodies produce less serotonin, the 'happy' chemical. Go to your doctor and speak to him/ her about this, they will most likely prescribe paxil or something else along those lines. The treatment will vary depending on your body but it could be for as little as three months or as I am, 5 years. It all depends how long you take to start generating higher levels of serotonin on your own.
Some things that may help in the process would be going outside as much as possible during the day and buying special light bulbs that mimic the natural rays of the sunlight, thus synthetically restoring serotonin levels in the body.
The hardest thing is overcoming the embarrassment and talking to your doctor. You will soon find out there are an unbelievable number of people who suffer from some form of depression.
I too have been having the most difficult period of my life within the last 2 weeks but I am trying to fight through this.
Good luck to you, I hope all works out.

I am not a doctor. I can tell you that every parent remembers those tough years. If you can't tell her maybe you could write her a letter, I did that a couple of times when I was a teen. But if you can't do that talk to someone at school, most schools have a psychiatrist on site or available. It sounds like you are depressed. Try not to keep yourself hold up in your room, spend time outside and with friends get involved in conversation. Maybe doing some volunteer work might make you feel better. Exorcise and eat healthy. All these things will help bring the serotonin level up in tour brain, it is the chemical responsible for making us feel good. It will be hard to do some of these things because depression takes away your motivation but push yourself. And please if you ever feel like you could heart yourself call a hot line, these people answer the phones because they care. Here is one I found in my phone book 1-800784-2400, 24 hr/day. Take care.

hi there, just wanted you to know you are not alone, depresssion affects loads of people. The best thing to do first is speak to someone about your feelings, if you feel you cant talk to your mum then maybe you could confide in an auntie or other relative you feel close too. The main thing is for you to get help from someone, remember a problem shared is a problem halved. There is no need to be embarrased about this, just get help and everything will turn out okay in the end. Stay strong and be positive, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

You are just at the beginning sorry. Before things are over you will go to hell . The brief depression you now feel comes from your brain because you made it believe expectations about love and sex that are not true to life. The brains we have are extremely powerful and will hurt you. Be careful and start small . There is much to learn. You are in a special group of people and never will be a winner\player. You are not a loser but an intelligent outsider. Be happy and help another depressed person so you can learn faster.

hi hun im feeling the same but mine is a mixture of post natal depression, the fact that my 7 month old daughter is partially sighted and will never see me and seasonal due to the weather changes.
i was embarrassed to tell my mum but i finally plucked up the courage and jsut said 'mum im not happy' and as soon as i said that she hugged me and i blurted out everything. it makes it so much easier she calls me on the phone every night (my husband works nights) to see how i am and to talk to me before bed.
she is a star and your mum wont be ashamed of you, why shoul she be, everyone at some point in thier life feels low whether they like to admit it or not.
Im sure your mum is like my mum and will love ya regardless hun, thats what mums are for-for being our best friends
good luck it wont last forever but if you feel it getting worse have a chat with GP and he will be able to give you a mild anti depressant to pick you up so you can change the way you are feeling.

I hear you loud and clear. Plz talk to your parents or a school counselor. There are treatments for depression. It is a long haul but this is a serious disease Don't let anyone tell you to pray or go shopping and you'll feel better.
You know better than that.
I wish you the best.

Anxiety possibly? I had the same problem in high school (only 3 years ago)
Everything is changing, exams etc it is a very stressful time. See your school counciller or see you local connexions office for advice. Your mum will also understand I didn't tell mine, went to the doctor and put me straight on pills, when really i needed someone to talk too, relate with etc

You sound like you could be depressed. You really need to seek medical advice. Being young has nothing to do with mental health problems, I was 14 when I started to feel depressed and started self harming. Get to your doctors soon, they will listen to you and can help, they put you in touch with therapists, give you medication that may help or can refer you to a specialist.

You sound like you have depression. You need to tell your parents so they can get you help. Don't be afraid as your taking a big step and admitting you have a problem. Ask your parents if it runs in the family becuase sometimes what we get depends upon our genes.

Dorsey,
The first thing I want to tell you is that you ARE NOT ALONE! I have depression and struggle the most at exam times (winter and spring). Second, if you are thinking that life isn't worth it. There is something major going on. Please talk to someone you trust. I would suggest someone in authority. You can tell your friends is you want to but they have no power to get help. And last, I just want to let you know that you will be in my prayers.
